Meet the Loofah Sponge. You've probably seen these sponges in the bath/body section of Target, but what you may not know is that they come from a plant. It was only a few years ago I learned that a Loofah plant is a large vining plant much like if zucchini were a climbing, vine type plant. I grew a few plants this year and have many loofah's to share with you now!
The loofah is generally a scrubby type of sponge. Great for exfoliating in the shower, or you can chop it up and use it as a scrubby in the kitchen. They typically last for several months.
Each loofah is processed in a vinegar and baking soda bath. I do not bleach my loofah's so each loofah ranges in color from tan to cream. Though they go through a rigorous wash, some loofah's maintain some chaff and seeds and these may come off as you use them, but it is not harmful to you or the loofah.
Each loofah is approximately 5" and comes with a jute cord for hanging in the bathroom or kitchen.
